Heating & cooling loads

Post by jm2000 »

Hello,

Trying to remember how to run heating and cooling loads....it been a while.

Firstly, Do I need 'CIBSE Loads' to calculate the heating and cooling loads, or can I extract the result I need through vista after running a Apache simulation? I can see reuslts which appear to be valid when runnign off a heating and cooling report, but, which leads me to my 2nd question.

ALSO

How do I account for the air load when completing the calculation, as Ihave an AHU heating or cooling external air to 20C , for ventialtion purpsoes only 8l/s/pp. I know there are certain way when you enter this in it only accounts for the fan energy and not the energy to heat or cool the air.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The choice is yours to run using CIBSE standard steady state calculation or a full Apache dynamic Simulation, just make sure the project (profiles, climate data) is correctly constructed for the type of analysis you are doing.

Regards the system air, you can specify a system air flow and profile as part of your thermal template setup and then the conditioning of that air is specified on the apache system 'air supply' tab. This then gives access to VistaPro variables for the system outside air which includes the gain it introduces to the room and the energy to condition this air is included as a system load

For a cooling loads calculation the standard heating and cooling loads report generated at the end allows you to specify the supply air temp then it will do a quick simple calc for the room loads to calculate the required air flow at the conditions specified to meet the load

Hello Phill,
I'm doing first time thermal analysis in the ies ve 2015.1.0.0 and getting fail to ensure about the results. Actually my target is to get the whole electricity consumption of the assigned HVAC system and it's components.

I've created and assigned all the thermal template and system as well to the zones. But here's a confusion about the calculation start, there are lots of option like Room level sizing, plant level sizing, ASHARE loads and Apache dynamic Simulation. What's the way to go through?

So, would you guide me please for the same.

Thanks in advance
