Hi,
Is there a way to change the opening type from windows to holes along a building façade in IES-VE ModelIT?
Thanks in advance,
Ann Johny

hello Ann,
yes - there's a command line thing for that.
OPEN=X
X=0 (hole)
X=1 (window)
X=2 (door)
Try that.
I might be wrong with the numbering and I am not at my IES computer just now so can't test so please update this thread with your findings.

While you can change opening types using the command lines, you can't have holes on the external facade of the building. Instead try using very poor windows (high U-values and SHGC) where the holes are meant to be.

Hi ,
Thanks for ur replies. I'd wanted to create holes on the external skin of a double skin façade. For some reason, when I imported my sketch-up model to IES the holes became windows (although I hadn't assigned any transparent surfaces in the sketch-up model). I ended up editing the model in ModelIT and re-making the external skin with holes. But for Apache Sim I changed them back to windows (poor performance windows as suggested) and it works fine now..
Thanks again for ur replies,
Ann

Hi,
The command line works fine with "open= x", But instead of the numbers its x = h (for hole), x= d (for door), and x= w (for window)
Thanks and Regards,
Ann
