Modeling mixed VAV setup

Post by JLuckett »

Hi,
I am attempting to model a system involving an AHU with economizer and DX cooling, serving zones with either FPVAVs or single duct VAVs. I have tried a couple different setups and am unable to achieve correct results. First I attempted to combine systems 5e and 6a. I removed system level heating coil and have two multiplexes representing the zone grouping for each. My problem is when sizing, it will only account for the principle multiplex and update. And in zone airflow I am only able to view principle mutiplex. Second I tried to use just system 6a and throttle the flow rate from zone fan to negligible for zones requiring single duct, and adding in another controller to control heating (and flow rate from system) for the required zones, however I am unable to achieve desired results. Is there a better modeling technique to create this system because I am not sure where to go from here.
Thank you for any help,
-Jackson

In VE 2017, there is a prototype system 8c"VAV - optional Parallel Fan-Powered boxes - otherwise standard VAV [Chilled water cooling coils - Elec heating coils]".

Please note that it is parallel FPBs. If you have series FPBs, you have to manually change the FPB loop.

Hope this helps.
