Manually enter u-value

Post by AndreaTD »

Hello, I believe there is a way to enter the u-value for a main construction component. For example, enter a u-value for a truss wall without having to specify layers, thickness, etc. Do you know where I can find the info of the steps to do that?

Thanks,
Andrea

-Go to Apache
-Open the Apache Constructions Database
-Select a default wall type that has similar Thermal mass characteristics to your wall
-Click "Edit Construction" in the bottom left corner
-In the new dialog that opens, select an insulation or similar layer where it shows all of the wall layers
-Right click that layer, and choose 'Set U value adjustment' or something like that, and enter your target U value in the new dialog that pops up

Hi,

CDB Tools menu has the Create target construction which allows entering a u-value directly and will created the simplest construction that matches this. It's a basic tool but can be handy for some quick analysis or for creating the SBEM method inputs for uk regs

Really for a good dynamic simulation though you want to put in the makeup of your Construction as Apache will consider the properties and performance of the materials layers
