Hi,
This is my first time using IES VE. I've imported Revit model into IES VE. The import process went well (I guessed) because the report showed all the rooms were bounded. The error~ there are external holes in this model, go to model to generate report. This occurred when I tried to assign construction material to the level 6.FYI, level 1 to 5 haven't got any holes. (I'm doing a 31 storey high building performance model). How should i solve this problem? Thanks in advance

Within Apache you are not allowed to have holes on external surfaces as it will cause calculation errors and out of bounds results (Apache simulates internal conditioned environments).

If you receive this alert it means VE has detected a hole on an external surface. This could happen in a number of ways from your Revit import e.g. an internal surface contains a hole but rooms are misaligned so surface is calculated as being external, you have a room upper boundary beyond the roof level and this has been exported out of Revit as a hole, you have a hole which is drawn on an external surface as part of design.

To help track these down go back to ModelIT and generate the Model Report from the ModelIT menu, this has a number of additional checks that will alert you to discrepancies in your imported model that you can resolve either in ModelIT or back in Revit if you wish. One of the checks here is an external holes count which will identify them and highlight where they occur so you can remove them or investigate further.
