Healtcare AHU - Part L 2021 England - ApacheSim Compliance

Hi All,
I've got a central healthcare AHU (HTM compliant) with heating and cooling with heat recovery serving clinical spaces with terminal reheat. Even with improved heat recovery efficiency, SFP and EER/SEER the cooling and auxiliary energy for BRUKL compliance are unusually high including also for high primary energy resulting in non compliance. I have input this system as Constant Volume System (fixed fresh air rate) as it seemed the most appropriate from the available NCM system options. Inputting it as central heating using air distribution does not give the option for cooling. Any experience on what's the most appropriate system type? Inputting it as Fan Coil System (even though it does not seem appropriate for my system) results in compliance and comparatively low aux, cooling and primary energy consumption even though it should have been expected to be performing worse.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Hi!

You should select the UK NCM System type that best represents your system. A description of each UK NCM System Type can be found on page 71-74 of the iSBEM User guide (iSBEM_User_Guide_v6.1.e_Compliance_19Dec22.pdf) found here: https://www.uk-ncm.org.uk/filelibrary/i ... v6.1.e.zip

In a case where none of the options provided on the UK NCM System type wizard can accurately represent your real system then you should come up with a suitable workaround and run it past your building control officer. See the following FAQ: http://www.iesve.com/support/knowledgebase/faq/3099

It is worth noting that with Apache Systems & the NCM Wizard you are not explicitly modelling the system at component level, but instead are best representing the overall key performance inputs of the system (SCoP, SEER etc..)

I hope this helps.
