Solar Hot Water & PV Panels
How are PV panels and solar hot water heating panels modeled in IES? My project wants to include both but we need to determine the balance between the number of solar panels for hot water and PV panels. Are there any tutorials or any other documents available? I was not able to any material to get me started on this.

Re: Solar Hot Water & PV Panels
I forgot to mention that the solar hot water panels are going to be used for heating as well as the domestic hot water pre-heat. How would I incorporate this to show the dynamics between the two uses?
Re: Solar Hot Water & PV Panels
Nice and easy.
There's a "Renewables" dialog that allows you to set PV Panels, Wind Generator and CHP!
The first page is for PVS allowing you to add panels and define their area and angle etc - not sure why there's no check box to use like the wind and chp pages though but once you enter a panel it starts to use it.
The Solar Hot Water heating system is a function of an ApacheSystem - it's just a pop up from that dialog.
The whole system setup is a little clunky in my opinion but it gets the job done (much room for improvement though). IES... if you can hear us... how about a little effort here? I know you are pushing in a few directions but we'd all like some improvement to the core products as well!!!

Re: Solar Hot Water & PV Panels
Hello there.. I am a student working with IESVE for my master thesis project, and i'm struggling with the renewable section at the moment. I included some PV in the model built in iesve, but i don't really understand how to read the results.
First of all, when i check the heating and cooling report, i was expecting to see a difference in the overall consumptions of the building, but i guess that the PVs probably have a separate section to be checked, and the software doesn't sum up automatically what the building consumes with what the PVs earn.. i guess? can someone confirm my inexperienced opinion?
Moreover, if i check the result in VistaPro for PV Generated Energy and i look at the graph, first thing that pops to my eyes is that.. the power has negative values?! Does this make sense to anyone at all..? if it does, can someone please explain to me what it means..?
Last but not least: always from my very ignorant eyes, i was expecting a result in kWh, not in kW.. why is that?
Is there something similar to a tutorial or a guide that i could follow?
thank you so much in advance for you help!!
