Help needed.

Hello,
I've recently bought IES VE student version and wanted to do some radianceIES rendering with COMPONENTS.
However when I render it doesn't render the COMPONENTS at all. The model is a school model with desks, chairs & a tree outside the room. All of my course mate has performed the same operation successfully with similar model. I even tried on their PC and managed to do it successfully but not in my Laptop.
I've reinstalled the software in my Laptop and reactivated the program, which didn't solve the problem.
I'm assuming that this has something to do with components section of the IES program which in my case isn't working. My version of IES is 6.02
Can anyone help with this please?
I need to finish my coursework as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
Most obvious thing to check (and sorry if you've already covered this!):
In Radiance, Component Settings tab make sure you have ticked use components and all components in model are set to On.
If that all looks as expected then check the Surface Properties tab and make sure they have a colour assigned so you'll be able to see them.
Hope that helps you out a bit,
Phil

I used the components, checked the surface properties, nothing worked but when I use it with my friend's laptop everything shows up, I mean the chairs, the tree everything shows up. I don't know what to do...
Shall I reinstall my student version of IES again? Will that help?
Or I need to format my PC again?
Can a re-download of the IES software help?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not sure what may be causing this. I have sent you a private email to get some information regarding your system setup and a copy of your project so I can check it out for you.
It's possible there may be wrong with your installation but I want to check over the project myself first.

update: I've been investigating this for some time but so far have not been able to reproduce the issue on my test machines. I believe this may be related to users having other versions of radiance installed on the machine beside <VE> I have not been able to reproduce the issue.
Will keep this thread updated if we find any way to correct this.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same trouble. I've checked that components are on and have colors.
I've tried different components and different materials. I can't get any components to show up.
I have the most recent version of IES, including the patches installed.
I did have LBNL Window and Radiance installed. So, I uninstalled them and then uninstalled IES. Then, reinstalled IES, and this still didn't help.
Can you provide any other updates? Has anyone else had this problem?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question... you are trying a "luminance" image yes?
Adding some images showing your steps might help as well

@ZapBran - yes, luminance image in Radiance.
How do I upload images? I have a few showing the model, steps, etc, but not sure how to post them.
