Hello,

The sketchup plug-ins makes creating a quick model pretty easy. My concern is that I don't understand all of the assumptions and details behind my choice of Building, Room type, HVAC, Construction type, ect. The "how to guide" http://www.iesve.com/content/mediaasset ... w%20to.pdf says that this information is available in the IES support forums. I can't seem to find it. Can you point me to the right post?

Hi,

The latest documentation is not available yet but the easiest way to check this for yourself is to launch <VE> from the plug-in and then take a look at the Building Template Manager - you will see all the thermal templates (related to Building/Room types), all systems are in Apache Systems, schedules can be found int he apache profiles database and Constructions are in the Constructions Database

You don't need a license to view any of this data, sorry we don't have this documented currently and it takes a little more effort for you to look this data out.

If I can provide further help please let me know, I'll post links here as soon as the documentation is complete

Thanks for the reply. When I enter <VE> and select Templates>Building Template Manager... I am notified that I do need a license? Is there another way to view the databases you reference? If so, can you point me to where these databases are.

ah sorry, my mistake.

If you're running in US with no licenses for Apache (or UK Compliance regs) then you won't have access to the Building Template Manager. I don't think there's any way you can see this data for now, I'll try my best to get some documentation together soon and make sure I forward this on to you

I know this was last year so sorry about that but I think Mike's raised a good point. Okay you can get a quick answer but if the data it's using is nothing like what I thought it was then what use is the answer?

After a slight delay, here is a link to download detailed info on each HVAC system option in the plug-in.

Extract the zip and you'll find a pdf I put together giving the data behind the system selections, there's summary giving a list of heating only and heating & cooling systems and if you go further down you'll find all the apache systems data behind each HVAC option.

It will take a little longer but I hope to get something together on the Building and Room Type template selections as well.

I also have the same questions about all the provenance of all the information is exported with the IES Sketchup plugin, its seems it cames from ASHRAE, but I couldn't find any documentation who confirm this.

I don't have this data to hand and don't expect to see it any time soon in honesty, see my previous notes on finding out for yourself.
