I'm trying to use VE Compliance / Apache as a preliminary step in an energy model of a large building. So far so good, but I can't seem to turn off the ventilation in areas of the building that I know are not ventilated, something which according to the NCM it really should be able to do. I am able to turn off the heating by assigning "None" in the System > HVAC section, but for some reason setting "None" in System > Auxiliary Vent does not turn off ventilation. I also can't edit the profile of auxiliary ventilation to be off all the time. Any tips on how to do turn off ventilation in VE Compliance / Apache?
Thanks

Re: Auxiliary ventilation & VE Compliance
I think you can edit the profile to be off Continuously in Room Data Air Exchanges tab? Not sure if that will help you to get what you want from the sim.

Re: Auxiliary ventilation & VE Compliance
Hi Phil,
What you suggest only works in V6.0.3. I've tried it and it works.
My problem is that I know I'll have to move all this over to ApacheSIM, and the problem is that starting in V6 IES has removed the ability to configure the airflow rate of auxiliary ventilation using "Edit Group Attributes". This is a critical limitation as I've been using that feature for quite some time now. I've been stuck using V5.9.2 ever since. Now it appears that in order to use VE Compliance properly I need V6... damn...
So does IES have any plans to reinstate the feature in question? There is probably a valid reason somewhere for this change, but I just don't understand why features get removed like that willy-nilly and then as a user I'm stuck making do with less. Maybe it's just me, but new features should add more convenient features, not remove them; clearly I'm no Mac user and I'll never ever believe that "less is more", less is always less.
Anyway, sorry for that segue, can you just tell me if IES are planning to reinstate that or is it "gone with the wind" ?

Re: Auxiliary ventilation & VE Compliance
I see the problems your facing here, there's only so far the user can bend to use the software!
I'm trying to get an explanation why this option was removed from Edit Group Attributes, I'll also ask for it to be reinstated. When I get an explanation or expected time frame for this to be put back in I'll post here.
Sorry
Phil

Re: Auxiliary ventilation & VE Compliance
Thanks Phil, do keep me posted.
Right now I've resolved to keep a master copy in V5.9.2, export it to V6.0.3 for the exclusive purpose of VE Compliance, and if I ever need to change anything I change it on the master, re-export it, and reapply the auxiliary ventilation profile to "off continuously". It works, but there's got to be a better way!
