Good day Everyone and Happy new year,

I would like to ask about the proper way to model External Lighting in IES.
Is there a standard way that is applicable to all models or is it customizable according to each model ?

For what purpose do you want to model external lighting? Is it for its effect on internal gains / internal light levels?

No, it is to account for its energy use in the model.

If it is to account for its energy use, just add it externally. IESVE Apache is there to model internal environments and what kind of energy / power / controls is required to maintain this internal environment; external lighting does not contribute to the internal environment, so just add it externally.

If you desperately wish to add it, create a room underground or somewhere completely out of the way and not connected to your building, remove any HVAC controls, make it as small as possible, add a big openable window that is open continuously, and add all the lighting you want. But I still think it is best to just add it separately, you can easily calculate how much power it will consume.
