Hello,
I'm willing to render a suncast model of a site and interested to see what is the effect of shading from all the sourrounding buildings in that site. I've constructed all the buildings, road network and everything that surrounds my site.

I'm just wondering what properties shall I define to the surrounding buildings and road networks which will not have direct energy implications (like adjacent building) other than solar shading has to cause to my to be built structure in said site?
I have three options to select
a. Adjecnt building,
b.Topographical shade, and
c. local shade

Hi,

If you are only using Suncast for shading analysis then you can select any shading type, these options are related to energy analyses and in particular UK Compliance calculations.

Adjacent Building - represents effects of surrounding buildings, when an adjacent building is adjacent to a room in the building the adjacency is correctly identified as internal for thermal/energy analyses.
Topographical Shade - represents the surrounding landscape.
Local Shade - Shading devices on the building.

For UK Part L2 Compliance, any Adjacent Building and Topographical shading surfaces are also applied to the benchmark buildings.

If you choose an adjacent buillding does this, mean that it will provide shading effect, if it is a taller building?
